War

Someone in your life is right now committed to your failure.

Someone in your life is right now committed to your failure.

It’s not your lecturer, even though it may feel like that. It’s not your supervisor, even though it may look like that. It’s not your spouse even though it seems like that. His name is lucifer, and he hates anyone that carries the image of God and reflects His character in any way.

It’s not your lecturer, even though it may feel like that. It’s not your supervisor, even though it may look like that. It’s not your spouse even though it seems like that. His name is lucifer, and he hates anyone that carries the image of God and reflects His character in any way.

The persons you know, and see are most times unknowing agents, driven by what they think to be their own desires and goals. The reality is that we are caught in a proxy war that has been going on for ages. The devil versus God. And he will use any means necessary to defeat divinity.

The enemy of souls has learned the patterns of your life and has sent “heat-seeking missiles” as regular people to rob your joy, steal your hope and murder miracles before they are even prayed for. Until we are conscious of lucifer’s evil agency, everyone who has stood in the way of our progress, is the only enemy we see.

As he is closing his letter to the Ephesians, Paul leaves a little something with a wide cross-section of the persons he is writing to. He starts with children, after that parents, then to servants, then the masters of these servants are addressed. His counsel is tuned to guide them within the confines of life they happen to be in, or the responsibilities they have to bear. If you look at the pattern of his logic, he is addressing subsets of society who are almost always in conflict with each other. Which is why finally, in verse 12, as he speaks to everyone as a corporate body, he elevates the argument tremendously.

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

He is simply saying your enemy is not the person you see. It’s someone else. With even more power than you could ever imagine them having.

BUT

we serve a God who has made available a defense system, designed for every mode of attack that this enemy has ever devised. And it’s available, to you, for free, right now. You don’t have to window shop, or wonder if you can afford this amazing Eternity Defense Suit. The whole armour of God is always available. It is yours. Free…forever. So yes, you will encounter the schemes of the enemy while he attempts to use these agents of flesh in his war against God. Fear not, it will soon be at an end. And the armour no longer needed, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

— Ephesians 6:11-12
