Fatal Attraction
An unsolicited hot and steamy picture! Oh!!! It’s on now! Hmmnnn, would she come over…now?!?! Of course! Look at what she just sent! That which his eyes desired could now be his. Absolutely no stopping now.
The trap was set, the target acquired, King David was locked into the fatal beauty of Bathsheba. This situation found the king at ease. His troops of invincibles had routed the Syrians so he felt he wasn’t needed to finish up the little “bait” army of the Ammonites. His general Joab could sort them out. Time to stay in the palace and kick back a little. While David relaxed, the enemy attacked. Not his army, city or palace. No…the devil went straight for his easy defenseless soul.
At this point he wasn’t David the giant-killer, the army’s record breaker. He was just another man wanting to fulfill the desires of his heart. Not until the prophet Nathan brought his sin before him in a graphic story would David comprehend the extent of his sin. All from one idle moment on the roof of his palace. Sex, lies and the “video-tape of eyes” that watched it all happen in the palace and on the battlefield, would now threaten the crown and the house of David.
When our heroes fail us, it feels as though we ourselves have fallen. The part of us that cheered them on dies a little. But think for a moment. We too are someone’s champion and you may not even know it. So the devil will do anything in his power to make you fail especially when you are on the pedestal of leader, hero, record breaker, the people’s defender…..christian. There is no bigger target, than on those who are perceived to be men and women after God’s own heart or someone legions of people look up to. So when the mighty fall don’t be surprised because you just might be two steps away from being attacked and tempted too. Be ready because no one is immune from a take-down. No one.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. - 1 Peter 5:8
