Degenerate Mutants

When most of us think of the word mutants

When most of us think of the word mutants

we probably think of an improvement in an organisms ability to survive, adapt or improve. Or we may even think about the mutants from the comic book and movie franchise X-Men. But most times we associate mutation with sort of “positive evolution”.

Recently, I was discussing with a friend how awesomely perfect the bodies of Adam and Eve must have been. Then I thought about the sad disease ridden bodies so many of us are dying to shed. And I realized just how degenerate we had become as a race. Degenerate mutants, fallen from a higher order of physical, mental and spiritual existence. The next point in the conversation was the fact that God still saw us worthy of redemption, still worthy of renewal, still worthy of the ultimate price being paid. In fact, we have come to accept, our salvation is not based on our current degenerate state. It is based on the value projected on us by God Himself.

When someone truly understands the effort and sacrifice that went into creating an original piece, no cost will be spared to restore it to its original luster, its pristine state of being. Though we may be flawed and broken, we remain worthy of redemption.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. – Romans 5:8
