The space-opera, more popularly known as Star Wars has been milking audiences for billions since the 1970s. But like most popular movies it pulls on themes that exist on the other side of the screen.

Reel life and real life, constantly react and reflect each other and Star Wars is no different. Not so long ago and not so far away a super weapon was released twice upon the nation of Japan. The people of Hiroshima and Nagasaki experienced what it felt like to look out and not see a horizon but the tidal wave of nuclear destruction rising to wipe them out from the face of the scorched earth. “Revenge” for Pearl Harbour was swift and incredibly destructive. Since then, only rumors of atomic wars (which led to the Cold War) have surfaced and another bomb of that magnitude has never been dropped. Relative peace has a price. Japan paid that one with many, many lives.

The Death-Star though was more than a city killer, it could obliterate an entire planet. When this ominous orb rises over the horizon, be assured, in a few short moments there will be no more horizon. Its powerful capabilities to wipe out life are beyond our capabilities to comprehend. But another planet killer has been unleashed on the earth. Sin. It is not a physical construct but it manifests itself in horrific, physical ways. Boyfriends and husbands killing their girlfriends and wives , dictators wiping out almost an entire generation of people. Parents sacrificing children at the altar of neglect and other unmentionable places. Even the earth itself heaves, rips, tears and roars because of this death agent that seems to be always with us. But deep in the heart of this cruel enemy from the hand of lucifer, is a kill switch.

Choice.

With the power of choice we are able to avoid the eternal effects of sin’s power. By choosing to have a deep abiding relationship with the Son of Man, who never took a life but gave His life. Every single human that has ever lived CAN be resurrected to live in the earth made new. What about babies and other mentally affected persons who have no choice? A loving God would never allow them to suffer for something they have no power over. Remember, God sees into the heart and mind of all. But those of us who have the power to choose can make an eternal difference. We can ask death where is your sting? Grave where in this world, this galaxy, this universe, is your victory. satan you have already lost. Your death-star of sin is doomed to destruction.

O death where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory?
