Born Blind

Ever seen a blind man play dominoes?

Ever seen a blind man play dominoes?

I have. And yes, he can even “read the board”. I have watched Floyd Morris, Jamaica’s former President of the Senate accomplish this feat. I am sure though, that this is actually a minor challenge compared to many of his other accomplishments.

I have. And yes, he can even “read the board”. I have watched Floyd Morris, Jamaica’s former President of the Senate accomplish this feat. I am sure though, that this is actually a minor challenge compared to many of his other accomplishments.

Completing university and navigating the ever shifting landscape of politics to the levels he has achieved, are among his many achievements. I truly am proud of his can do attitude. It puts some of us “seeing-people” in check having all our faculties. Blindness though, is not only a physical state of being it is also a spiritual mindset.

One of Satan’s fatal deceptions is to blind us to the reality of our spiritual needs. Wrapped up in the warm fuzzy confidence of our doctrines, our rituals, our long public prayers and weekly services. Some of the religious leaders of Jesus’ day were blind to their own spiritual poverty. They were Bible-reading, Sabbath-keeping, tithe-paying “church” members looking for the coming of the Messiah. Yet when they saw Him, their eyes could not see divinity fully revealed. Many were in darkness regarding the type of spiritual kingdom that He would usher in. Jesus called them “blind guides”. Every time that Jesus opened blinded eyes He was revealing His desire to open the eyes of our minds in order to enable us to see Him clearly. Jesus will restore the spiritual eyesight that we have lost only if we allow Him. He will give our minds clarity in humanity’s sea of blinding confusion. God can “read the game” long before the hands are dealt. So the question is...Are you ready to trust Him to be your partner on the board? Are you?

Blind guides! You strain your water so you won’t accidentally swallow a gnat, but you swallow a camel! - Matthew 23:24
