For 31 years he uttered not a word. He would eventually be able to secure a job. But once people saw the scars on his hand, in his face, they rejected him. This was such a crushing blow he went back to the only place where he would not be discriminated against. The leper colony.
Many brothers and sisters soon after being baptized, lose faith in what we pass off as “Christianity”. A genuine smile, a listening ear, an empathetic prayer from the heart, an invite to Sabbath lunch? I’ll never forget this beautiful gem of a quote my mother would constantly share as we grew up. “Little deeds of kindness, little words of love, help to make earth happy like the heaven above.”
