Ants, Sparrows and Lilies
Although Moses was a prince of Egypt, learning from the greatest minds on the planet’s greatest nation at the time. It was while being a shepherd for 40 years in a dry and weary land, did he understand the true meaning of what his actual purpose would eventually be. Far too often we are seeking grand signs and epic miracles to divine, spelunk and understand the dark cave of life which feels like a continuous maze. At times a dream within a dream.
Go to the ant, consider the sparrow, look at the lilies. Woven into their DNA is God’s supreme will and His grandest miracles. Sometimes our prayers are being answered before our very eyes in little ways. Unfortunately, sometimes our spiritual optic nerves are clouded by the glaucoma of stress, worry and strain. The big budget movies, larger than life video games, mind-sweeping novels or even the booming, thundering sermons have dulled and stunned our senses into expecting something epic, something so abundantly glorious we fail to hear the still small voice, softly nudging us along the way we should go. Extract your mind from constant exposure to the high energy experience. Learn to retrain your mental muscles to seeing the mighty in the minuscule. If I may quote the English poet William Blake: “To see a world in a grain of sand and a heaven in a wild flower, hold infinity in the palm of your hand. And eternity in an hour.”

Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice. So it was, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. Suddenly a voice came to him, and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” – 1 Kings 19: 11-13
