All-Season
A similar thing happens in our spiritual life. The season you are going through sometimes has absolutely nothing to do with you. You can go through life making the right choices every single step of the way and still end up battling stage 4 this or type 2 that. Look at the most perfect being to walk the earth. Jesus had a perfect devotional life, He healed people, he had “sold-out” crowds for sermons, and He was the kindest, most generous person you could ever meet, yet He died one of the most awful deaths imaginable.
My friend, the good or bad that you experience, is not always a result of the good or bad that you do. “The season” that you are experiencing may not end because you are praying your heart out or read the Bible cover to cover twice in a year. Mind you, there are somethings like spousal and parental abuse that MUST stop as soon as humanly possible. Just know this though. A strong spiritual walk does not always lead to a stress or problem free life. Look at the apostles after Jesus died. Compare that with the lavish and “wonderful” and seemingly peaceful lifestyles of those we may deem non-religious or non-spiritual and could care less if God existed. To understand this conundrum and to spiritually survive this level of crazy that we have inherited on this planet….we need to elevate how we relate to Divinity. We need to grow up from “Gerber prayers” and seek deeper encounters of a spiritual kind. Go further from the safe shores of “thank you God for this and please God may I have that”. When was the last time you wrestled for hours or maybe even days with God in a conversation? What’s the longest amount of time you’ve spent figuring out a particular chapter or verse in the Bible? Gerber prayers and Bible speed reading can only take you so far. Do you want to know HOW to take your prayer and devotional life to where you can put on the All-Season Tires of Spiritual Life. Go read the Psalms.
It’s no accident that the longest book in the Bible has some of the deepest and most powerful conversations between man and God. Developing an all-season mentality as Jesus had, means deepening the level of your conversation with Divinity. Reading His words more, directly expressing to Him more of what you’re experiencing daily and listening to what He says during prayer. And remember we can talk to Him, constantly. Anytime. He has cleared His schedule…for you. Elevate the experience by going deeper…DAILY. Those all-season tires don’t come cheap.

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all. – Psalm 34:17-19
